Re Snowtown Murders - R v Bunting & Wagner - multiple murders in South Australia

Eight bodies were found in six plastic barrels located in the vault of a former bank building at Snowtown. Subsequently, two more bodies were located. They were buried in the backyard of a house at 203 Waterloo Corner Road, Salisbury North.

The murders are believed to have taken place between about December 1995 and May 1999. Three men, Bunting, Wagner and Haydon were charged on 21 May 1999. A fourth, Vlassakis was charged on 2 June 1999.The three were jointly charged with ten counts of murder. Vlassakis was charged with five of those counts of murder.

On 9 September 2003, both Bunting and Wagner were found guilty by a jury and sentenced by the Supreme Court to life imprisonment – Wagner guilty for the murder of 10 and Bunting for the murder of 11.
